The company was founded as the „Werkstätte für Kutschwagen und Pferdeschlitten“ (horse-drawn carriages) by Heinrich Gläser in Dresden. |

| 1898 |
The master blacksmith, Emil Heuer, acquired a share in the company. This was the beginning of a successful cooperation between Gläser and Heuer. |

| 1902 |
Gläser and Heuer developed and built their first automobile chassis for the start-up Mercedes. |

| 1903 |
On July, 6th the company gained the privilege of naming itself „Coachbuilder to the royal court“ of Saxony. |

The development and production of cars with removable and retractable roofs began. The production line was expanded to sports car convertibles for Opel, BMW, Maybach, Benz, Daimler and others. |

The company went bankrupt and was renamed as „Gläserkarosserie GmbH”. |

| 1945 |
A difficult period of reconstruction followed World War II. Nonetheless, the company was processing its first order of repair work on chassis for the occupying power. |

The company was expropriated and nationalized. This marked the transition from handcraft to industrial production. |

The plants in Dresden and Radeberg were renamed as "VEB Karosseriewerke Dresden". |

The last convertible chassis passed through the factory gates in Dresden. This was the end of a glorious époque of that location. |
